I was talking to a friend tonight and he really helped me come to terms with what a time suck Facebook is. There are a ton of good uses for FB but it is a drag on me.
In this I need to find the balance between my Family, Business Associates, Storm Chasers and people who like to look at my photos.
Now I am by no means cool enough to justify a “Fan Page” so that is just out of the question, and personally I don’t “Fan” other chasers.
Typically Chaser “Fan” pages just are links that they put on their normal Facebook anyway so who cares.
I am a little worried I am missing out on some of the networking abilities that Facebook can provide with my business so I am reorganizing my Facebook into lists.
First off I don’t want anyone to be offended over the list you are in. I know last time I tried this all hell broke loose when I had like 600 friends so I cut back my FB to only about 200 people, 95% of which I really know.
Since I know opening up my list will go insane again I have built Lists based on my relationship with that person.
If for some reason someone says to you “Did you see XYZ on Scott’s facebook?” and you can’t see it you are more than likely in the wrong list. Please send me a message and I will take care of it right away, my purpose is not to block anyone from seeing anything they may want to see, but to keep me from posting garbage to business associates who don’t need to know I am at the bar! 
The second part is to filter the complete garbage I don’t care about such as Farmtownville. Most of that is blocked already but most of the people who want to see my storm chaser stuff are not chasers at all, and I don’t really care how class is going in California. I feel bad when I see someone wearing a hat with my logo on it, I don’t know who they are but they want to be my friend… until today I would simply ignore the request. Hopefully with my new “Plan” I can do that. Most people will not see pictures of my family and kids, but if you were a fan of those before I put you in a list so you can see them.
This is a really hard thing to do, harder than I thought it would be but I really want to use Facebook as a tool and stop letting it suck my time.

Bravo Scott! Bravo. I never realised how much of a time suck facebook is until they disabled my account last week. So im taking some time off of there, before (presuming i have to) making a new account.
