Today is the big announcement I give you the S.C.O.T.T.

It’s been a long year… 1 year to the day to be exact that Steve Miller OK and I have been working on this project but I am happy to finally be able to announce it.    I have been giving vague references to the “S.C.O.T.T.” and here it is the Self Contained Optical Tornado Transmitter!    Construction was completed late last summer and keeping it a secret was what I thought to be impossible… but none the less…

Steve and I were contacted by one of our network partners about building a “Ultimate Video Probe” that could be hopefully survivable yet still stream HD video back to a control truck incase the probe was lost.

Unlike traditional stationary probes they wanted something mobile that could move and make corrections without risking human life.    The vehicle would need to be able to remove obstructions (thus the arm) and be very agile.   With a sizeable budget we went to work.

The six wheeled design of the S.C.O.T.T. will allow it to move freely while still being very fast.   As most people know I am a behind the scenes kind of guy so this was right up my alley!     I know I am more excited about this than my family as I will be working on the show driving the vehicle from the truck and not be home durring filming this spring.

The past few weeks we have been doing some field testing and did get a small workout in Iowa where a few people did get to see it in action.   Unfortantely we were somewhat out of position when we got this very obstructed image from the probe…. we need to get closer.

Ok now if you have been following along this long I am shocked…. I could keep up with this B.S. or just say April Fools!   I know anyone who is a Stargate fan figured out what it was right away but to the rest I hope you enjoyed the joke.     Hope you have a fun day!  (Photo Credit Wikipedia)
