Projects

I’m a technology guy who loves storms.
Over the past few years I have developed a number of technologies that storm chasers use every day.

www.SpotterChat.org – Founded September 2008
SpotterChat is the #1 destination for real time conversations with other storm chasers, as of May 1st 2010 it has over 2000 members and is used actively every day.
SpotterChat is a branch of the now somewhat defunct Openfire communications platform and it’s Spark client, it uses the XMPP communications protocol and is compatible with every OS and most Smart Phones.

www.ChaserTV.com – Founded December 2008
ChaserTV is a live video sharing website that allows Chasers, Emergency Management and Media Outlets to transmit video and sound over low bandwidth “Streams” to be displayed on the web or Television.
The website is used to facilitate curiosity, Broadcast Media, emergency planning, education and aids the National Weather Service with ground truth durring severe weather.
As of May 2010 the website had well over 100,000 unique visitors monthly and on 4/24/10 served a record 295,000 stream requests in 18 hours.
As of 1/2011 ChaserTV was acquired by www.wdtinc.com

What’s Next?
I am going to chase!
Need to work on my forecast skills and working on a new camera setup for 2011.
